Daily reading for April 16 from “As If I Was In Your Office…”

Acceptance “In recovery we can enjoy true freedom and true peace of mind with the true understanding and practice of acceptance.” Fr. Paul – March 19, 2008.

Acceptance is the key for us. That is the only way we can become spiritual and accept the responsibility that it is me and not everybody else that needs to change.

In our disease we have to be right and in control. We have to have it our way and if it is not, we want to destroy it. We push it out of our lives and have nothing to do with it, him or her. We quit. We isolate ourselves. We stay away from people. We can block it all out when getting into booze or drugs. In our disease we have to live this way or we will hurt someone or commit suicide.

My commitment today is to accept the help that God sends me through the people that he puts in my life today.

Featured Testimonial

Not only did the people at Brentwood change my son, but they changed me as a mother. It allowed me to develop an amazing relationship with my son. When we found Brentwood, I was as much in need of help as my son was. I could not have done this journey without help. Without Brentwood’s help!

By coming to Family Support meetings with an open heart, I found a support system like no others. Brentwood staff have continued to work with my son in his Recovery while I worked my own program. This has allowed us to celebrate and grow in recovery as a family. I will be forever grateful to Brentwood!
