Including People - “We need to include people not exclude people one day at a time!” Fr. Paul Retreat – November 2007

It’s natural. It’s Nature to include parents, children, brothers, uncle, and aunts. We were always excluding others which is absolutely against Nature and absolutely against how God made us to live. When we come to a place like this we can be smart and we can let people in. When you let people in you’re really letting in love, understanding, caring and forgiveness. That’s the wisest thing anybody can do. We go from pushing people away because we saw them as part of the problem, to allowing them to be part of our life as God meant it to be. People can bring kindness and understanding into our life with love, forgiveness, and encouragement. So often with our fears and our blindness we’re afraid to take this chance about moving, education, changing jobs, getting married, whatever.

My commitment today is to include people instead of excluding them!

Not only did the people at Brentwood change my son, but they changed me as a mother. It allowed me to develop an amazing relationship with my son. When we found Brentwood, I was as much in need of help as my son was. I could not have done this journey without help. Without Brentwood’s help!

By coming to Family Support meetings with an open heart, I found a support system like no others. Brentwood staff have continued to work with my son in his Recovery while I worked my own program. This has allowed us to celebrate and grow in recovery as a family. I will be forever grateful to Brentwood!
